Business Development Specialist

Founded in 2013 by laboratory billing and organizational management experts, Innovative Lab Solutions is dedicated to providing a complete and highly customizable suite of specialized billing, consulting, and compliance services to independent and specialty laboratories. ILS is currently seeking a Business Development Specialist who will be responsible for identifying opportunities for business growth and optimizing marketing strategies to promote the company’s longevity. 

The ideal candidate is a motivated, organized, and creative individual who welcomes the challenges of acquiring and developing new business through sales efforts. The role’s duties include working closely with other company executives and management teams, meeting with potential business partners and maintaining existing client relationships and monitoring market trends to come up with new business ventures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develops and executes a strategy for discovering and securing new business opportunities
  • Evaluates and determines business growth goals
  • Develops negotiation strategies by evaluating risks and potentials
  • Creates a business development database to evaluate performance and organize client and prospective client information
  • Fosters beneficial relationships with business partners, potential clients, and business contacts to attract new business and enhance organization reputation
  • Uses a variety of marketing techniques to attract potential customers
  • Maintains current client relationships and identifies areas of growth for existing and potential clients
  • Develops and improves sales and marketing strategies through various methods
  • Collaborates with team members to ensure requirements are met, such as sales and profit goals
  • Researches and identifies new business opportunities – including new markets, growth areas, trends, customers, products, and services

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of sales/marketing experience in a related field (laboratory, medical, pharmaceutical, etc.)  
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or a related field
  • Proven ability to close deals and achieve business acquisition goals
  • Must possess excellent communication and writing skills, be adept in business and development as well as possess interpersonal skills to collaborate with colleagues and clients
  • Exhibits strong motivation to make sales
  • Must have a strong understanding of company products or services as well as business position and competition to keep business competitive
  • Demonstrates strong organizational skills, the ability to meet deadlines, and the ability to solve problems

Salary and Benefits

Base salary of $50,000, plus a 3% commission based on gross revenue recorded.  Salary also includes a variable quarterly bonus that will be included based on growth metrics.  Benefits package includes:
